As we gear up for another season in the NWCFL Premier Division, we are proud to announce our coaching team for the 2023/24 campaign.
With a mix of experienced individuals and promising talents, the Ravens coaching team is ready to build on last year’s platform and push on again this season.
Paul Jones – Manager
Continuing on from a much-improved end to last season, Paul is now entering his first full season as Manager. He will set the direction and focus of the work with the players which will include being the final decision-maker on training content, game strategy and tactics and matchday squads and starting XIs. With his wealth of experience in football, on and off-Island) and the tactical improvement he brought to the performances last campaign, we have high hopes for the upcoming season.
Alex Harrison – Assistant Manager
Assisting Paul is Alex Harrison, who has formalised his role this season. Having enjoyed success managing local side St Marys last season Alex will be a vital asset in supporting the manager on and off the pitch whilst also supporting the delivery of FCIOM training sessions, with a special area of focus, whilst also continuing to contribute to the local game through St Marys.
Andrew Gosnell and Gareth Lloyd – Coaches
As Coaches, Andrew Gosnell and Gareth Lloyd will be leading our training session planning and delivery. Both have a deep understanding of the game, and the player pathway on the Island and are dedicated to player development. Their expertise and personal qualities will play a pivotal role in preparing our team for the challenges we will face throughout the season.
Juan Watney – Coach Developer
Joining our coaching team is Juan Watney, who will not only contribute to the delivery of training sessions but will also play a key role within the group as a Coach Developer. In that role, Juan will use his experience as a FA coach developer to hold the group accountable for delivering sessions that meet the needs of the players. This will ensure the coaching group are enhancing their processes, skills and knowledge with a focus on continuous improvement through a robust planning and review process. The pivotal role will go a long way to ensuring the coaching team is performing to the best levels possible, as individuals and as a group, so players receive highly relevant and effective sessions week to week.
David Cherry – Goalkeeper Coach
Chez is well-known in the local game for his work with goalkeepers of all ages. He has the role of making sure our GKs are in top condition at all times and is able to make a significant contribution to our playing style and tactics. Through Chez, we also hope to provide young and ambitious GKs with training opportunities over the season for the benefit of their own development and that of local game.
Patrick Myers – Apprentice Coach
Completing our coaching team is Patrick Myers. After studying Football Studies at IOM College and volunteering with the Club for two years in a range of roles, Patrick has joined the setup as Apprentice Coach. His role will allow him to further develop his coaching skills while working closely with the experienced members of our team.
As the new season is almost upon us, Ravens fans can be assured that our preparation, tactics and player development are in very capable hands.
