FC Isle of Man continues to implement its formal board management structure and following last week’s announcement that Gill Christian is the club’s new Chairperson, we are delighted to announce that Les Nicol has been confirmed as Vice Chair.
It is a role that is not unfamiliar to Les, as he has essentially fulfilled the role on a de-facto basis for the last 18 months.
Les is a well known personality within the Island’s business and football communities. He has run his own construction company for over 20 years and has been prominent on many local business committees and amongst other things he is currently a Director of Construction Isle of Man.
On the sporting side, Les is recognised for the various roles he has performed at Corinthians FC as a player, manager and a longer standing member of the club committee. Les’ contributions have also been prevalent across other sports and he has sat on the board/management committees of other organisations, such as the Isle of Man Gymnastics Association.
With this background Les will bring a wealth of sporting and business knowledge and experience to assist in the running of the club.
Les stated:
I’ve been fortunate enough to have been involved since the inception of the club. The vision, enthusiasm and ambition from everyone on the working group was infectious from the start and while some people may be amazed that the club has taken off relatively quickly I am not so surprised.
When you consider a few of us hadn’t even met when we first started, the focus of the group was amazing right from the beginning and to be part of that motivation of everyone pulling in the one direction has been irresistible and it’s been a great start to what will hopefully be a long and successful journey.
I am delighted to accept the role of vice-chair at FC Isle of Man I think the opportunities we can offer our young players, coaches, background staff and not to mention our supporters and partners is limitless and like everyone else I am now just looking forward to watching FC Isle of Man back on the field of play in the hopefully not too distant future.
