As the club grows and learns, things inevitably have to change. A decision that is right today may not be right for tomorrow and matchday security has fallen into this category.
A few minor incidents last season resulted in steward numbers unfortunately declining a little, and we all know that we cannot operate without this fantastic bunch of volunteers – matchday just wouldn’t happen.
The Board felt that we needed to enhance what we have, by ensuring that education and knowledge are key to protecting our volunteers and in turn our fans. As helpful as the Isle of Man Constabulary have been, especially with advice and briefings it’s not always possible to have a police presence, neither is it necessary.
With this in mind we have decided to employ Protec Security, a professional security team who will provide two roaming security officers at each of our home games, bringing with them first aid, trauma care and training. The aim being to protect our stewards and in turn provide piece of mind throughout the Bowl for everyone present to enjoy the whole matchday experience.
Paul Quayle, our Head Steward has welcomed this initiative saying “As a stewarding team we are always ready to learn and develop so with this extra help we are really looking forward to providing an even better experience for Ravens fans – and hopefully welcoming a few new volunteers too!”
