Difficult Day at Hollyhedge Park

Ten-man FC Isle of Man lost 4-0 away at Wythenshawe on Bank Holiday Monday, leaving the Ravens third from bottom.

The Ravens were the quickest out of the blocks with an early effort and some pressure, but as the home side settled into the game, they took control.

After a soft free kick was awarded inside the Ravens’ half, in the 17th minute, Wythenshawe would take the lead.

A long ball to the back post was headed back across the box by Henry Carne, with Darrhyl Mason tapping home.

It was very nearly two soon after as Darius Palma looked to lob Jay Gandy who made a great save to somehow got a fingertip to the ball to flick it onto the bar and it bounced clear.

FC Isle of Man’s best opening of the half came as Dean Pinnnginton received the ball out wide and drove at the box, but his effort was well saved by Ryan Forde to keep it 1-0 at the break.

The second half saw Wythenshawe score their second and the Ravens reduced to 10 men inside the first 10 minutes.

Bryan Ly played a chip into the path of Palma, who tucked it into the far post, leaving Gandy with no chance.

Shortly after Callum Sherry received a straight red card for something he said to the referee’s assistant, leaving the Ravens down to 10 and two goals down.

While the return of Michael Williams brought some cheer for the Ravens’ travelling fans, Wythenshawe soon had a third as a move down their right was crossed and Palma had the simple task of tapping home.

The fourth goal came as Ashley Leather crafted some space, crossed in and Aaron Dwyer added the fourth in the 77th minute.
