FC Isle of Man is delighted to announce the launch of a new partnership with Sure that will support our work with the Island’s schools.
The sponsorship was launched at an event at Sure’s Douglas store, attended by Sure’s Mike Phillips, Chief Executive – Isle of Man and staff from the telecoms company, as well as FC Isle of Man officials and players and Phil Shaw Vehicles.
The multi-year sponsorship will allow Connor Prescott, the club’s first full-time employee, to work with the island’s schools allowing them free access to football coaching and all of the benefits that brings to them as individuals and their school as a whole.
Speaking at the event, Mike Phillips said: “Sure’s been on the Isle of Man for 18 years and community has always had a big role to play in what we’re doing, but in particular, community is about youth, and it’s about education as well.
“From that perspective, we as a business, our mission is to connect our own communities together and the role of education is key and pivotal to make sure that we keep the youth engaged, keep the youth fit, both mentally and physically, so for me personally it is great to start this sponsorship and support FC Isle of Man and Connor’s work.”

Gill Christian, Chair FC Isle of Man, said: “We are delighted to have Sure.com on board as a new sponsor. Their sponsorship not only provides invaluable support to FC IOM but it is also an incredible opportunity for all of our Island’s children to benefit.
“Through this sponsorship we are able to provide all of the Island’s 32 primary schools with coaching sessions to ensure hands on experience of football and the opportunity to engage directly with our football community.
“We are truly grateful and excited for the opportunities this sponsorship will bring for us all.”
Club Director Andy Birchall added: “In addition to Gill’s words, I can’t stress enough how much this partnership means to our unique club and how exciting working with the Sure team has been to bring it to life.
“Right from the initial enquiry last summer, it has been eminently apparent that Sure’s vision for the education of the Isle of Man’s children has mirrored our own perfectly and we look forward to continuing to grow this together.”
The work Connor will be doing would not be possible without the support of Phil Shaw Vehicles, who have sponsored us by providing the club with a van.
Phil said: “I have always been a sports fan and a player myself, albeit a few years ago and I still take part in a lot of sport.
“As a company, we specialise in commercial vehicles, so providing them with a small van didn’t really affect us that much, but it helped the club going round the schools, it’s always a great thing to be able to do anything that helps kids to do things.”
