FC Isle of Man is delighted to announce that Chris Bass has been appointed as the first ever manager of the club.
Chris will bring a wealth of experience to the position having managed St Georges FC for over 30 years, during which time he has indubitably become the most successful club manager in Manx football history.
Chris’ list of success is impressive to say the least including:
- 13 League Titles
- 10 Hospital Cups
- 9 FA Cups
- 8 Railway Cups
- 8 Charity Shields
- 3 Grand Slam seasons
On the international front Chris was also manager of the Ellan Vannin side that narrowly lost the 2014 CONIFA World Football Cup final on penalties.
Chris will formally take up the role on July 1, subject to The FA issuing final approval for FC Isle of Man to join the English Non-League system next season. In the interim Chris will continue in his current club role with St Georges FC.
Chris Bass stated:
I am truly honoured to be given this opportunity to be asked to become FC Isle of Man Manager. It is probably the pinnacle of my career. It’s something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time, so to get this opportunity is very exciting.
Everyone involved in the group seems to have a lot of ambition to get to the best level they possibly can and that matches my ambitions too. I am really looking forward to it.
FC Isle of Man, Director of Football, Paul Jones stated:
We’re extremely happy to have Chris on board with us. It’s a big signal that we’re moving forward and to have someone of Chris’ experience is awesome for the club, the players and the Manx community as a whole.
Chris is a winner and his record speaks for itself. He’s also knows the Manx game inside out and he’s proved that he can build teams as well. In addition, he’s represented the Isle of Man overseas in international competitions and has basically got all the right attributes we were looking for when appointing our manager.
All of us at FC Isle of Man are delighted to welcome Chris to the club and are confident he will play a leading role in helping to achieve our ambitions.
