FC Isle of Man’s official affiliation with the Isle of Man FA has been approved

FC Isle of Man is delighted to announce that its official application for affiliation to the Isle of Man Football Association has been approved.

This ultimately means that the club finally now becomes a tangible entity, and not just an idea.

The affiliation process started in October last year when the Isle of Man FA and its associated clubs voted to allow FC Isle of Man to become an affiliated member of the association from season 2020-21.

This week’s approval is the final piece of the jigsaw.

Everyone at FC Isle of Man would like to thank the Isle of Man FA and all its associated clubs in supporting this process and we look forward to working together in bettering the local game in the coming years.

Gary Weightman, FC Isle of Man Chairman:

“There have been many steps to take along the way for FC Isle of Man, but it is affiliation to the Isle of Man FA that makes us a football club, not a dream. It is testament to the hard work, dedication, and tenacity of the whole FC Isle of Man committee that we have come this far, mainly through the inspiration and vision of Paul Jones.”

“There are still big challenges ahead for the club, we can meet and overcome them and fulfil the dream of an Isle of Man football team playing in the National League System in England.”

“Thanks to all the members, supporters and our partners who have helped along the way and to the Isle of Man FA and clubs for their help in getting us this far”

Paul Jones, FC Isle of Man Director of Football:

“For the last 18 months FC Isle of Man has been a concept. Today marks the moment when the idea became reality. To say that a lot of hard work and effort has gone into this project is an understatement and I am proud of the working group members who not only believed in the plan but have also put the work in to get us to this point.”

“It’s a fantastic milestone but there us much labour that is still ahead of us to ensure we have a team playing in the English National League System.”

“With a fair wind, hard work and the continued support of the Manx Community we believe we are well placed to do this over the weeks ahead and it won’t be too long before an FC Isle of Man team is playing at The Bowl in front of our supporters.”
