Paul Jones wins Sports Administrator of the Year at 2020 IOM Sports Awards

An exciting night at the Isle of Man Sports Awards on Wednesday proved to be a fruitful night for our Director of Football, Paul Jones as he was awarded the Isle of Man Sports Administrator of the year.

FC Isle of Man is now on the verge of its first ever season in the North West Counties Football League which is a culmination of Paul’s initial idea and resolve to make this happen. All of us involved with the club recognise that without Paul’s vision, inspiration, desire and determination it is unlikely we would be in this position.

It is very humbling to have received this award and I am grateful to Isle of Man Sport for nominating and ultimately voting me this award. However, I would stress that this is a recognition of what everyone at FC Isle of Man has achieved over the last 12 months. Without everyone’s hard work and dedication, and I include our supporters, sponsors, community partners in all of that, then I and the club as a whole would not have been in a position to be recognised in this way.

We have to remember now though that the hard work is only just beginning. Yes we’ve established a new Manx club for the local community to hopefully enjoy and get behind us, but we’ve achieved nothing yet and hopefully the Island’s border restrictions will be lifted later this month as scheduled and this will enable us to be the first Manx club to compete in the English non-league system.

FC Isle of Man was also nominated in the Team of the Year category and everyone at the club would like to congratulate everyone at Isle of Man Sport for organising and presenting a fantastic event and of course we applaud all of the athletes and teams who were nominated and received recognition and awards across all categories.
