As announced by the English Football Association at midday today, we are delighted to announce that we will be playing in The North West Counties Football League Premier Division once again in the 2023/24 season.
There were plenty of changes announced including an increase in the league size from 22 teams to 24. Joining us from Step 4 are Colne Football Club, Glossop North End A.F.C, Ramsbottom United F.C, Skelmersdale United F.C. Joining from Step 6 are Chadderton F.C, Cheadle Town F.C, Pilkington F.C. & Wythenshawe Amateurs FC. Congleton F.C, Northwich Victoria F.C. & Winsford United F.C have all moved to the Midland League and we wish them the best of luck.
We spoke to Manager Paul Jones after the announcement at lunch time.
“We are really looking forward to challanging ourselves in what looks to be an extremely competitive NWCFL Premier Division. With 46 league games to play the energy and passion our fantastic supporters have for the club will play a key role in helping the playing group push on from a great finish to the season.
It will also be great to renew our healthy rivalry and relations with those clubs we met last season whilst also creating new rivalries and relations with the 7 clubs who have come into the league through promotions and relegations.
There is still a good few weeks before we will have an idea of fixtures but we can now put firm plans in place to give ourselves a great chance of doing well both on and off the field of play.
Thank you to the individuals, businesses and organisations who have supported the club over the last 12 months. We look forward to working with you again and playing on your behalf next season in a really competitive and exciting league.”
