The Sherriff Hands In His Badge…

We’ve got some news that’s a little bittersweet. This weekend, Craig Cowin will sweep the changing rooms and pack the FC Isle of Man kit away for one last time in his day-to-day role at the club.

Craig has been with us since the very first game. Many will know him as the kit-man, but inside the club he’s much more than that. He’s been the linchpin that holds everything together. A vital link between players and staff. The man who sorts things before anyone else even realises they need sorting. His official titles might include kit-man, player liaison, away day secretary, boardroom bridge, and mascot organiser. But frankly, there’s a good chance we’ve also missed a few as well. Sorry Craig.

While he’s stepping away from the regular matchday madness, he’s not disappearing completely. Craig has agreed to take on the role of Welfare Officer, a hugely important job that fits him perfectly. He’ll still be a trusted voice for players and staff. And his number remains firmly saved in every phone across the club.

We had a quick catch-up with Craig to talk about his decision, some of his favourite memories, and what he’s got planned next. If you see him at The Bowl this evening, be sure to ask him what his favourite colour animal is and whether it’s in a club. (He’ll be after us for that one!)

We also sat down with Chairman Gill Christian and Vice-Chair Lee Dixon to get their thoughts on just how big of a role Craig has played over the years, and how much he means to everyone at FC Isle of Man. You can listen to that chat below.

Thank you Craig, for everything we’ve seen and even more so, the things we haven’t because you got their first!
