What we need to secure promotion in the play-offs

So here we are. After 37 games played in our first ever season in the NWCFL Div 1 South, FC Isle of Man proudly sit second in the table.

With champions West Didsbury & Chorlton earning automatic promotion to the NWCFL Premier Division, the remaining promotion spot will be played-off between the other teams in the Top Five after the last game this weekend.

Crucially though, where we finish in that Top Five will play a big role in our chances of promotion. Here’s how the play-offs will work:

First round – 9 April

  • 2nd (H) plays 5th (A)
  • 3rd (H) plays 4th (A)

Final – 16 April

  • Winner of 2nd vs 5th plays Winner of 3rd vs 4th
  • (Highest placed team plays at Home)

You will see that finishing second come 17:00 on Saturday will secure home advantage for the play-off first round and final should we make it.

So what do we need to do to confirm second spot?

Looking at the league table, mathematically we can retain second if both New Mills and Abbey Hey only draw their games but… quite simply a win against Abbey Hulton guarantees us second spot – and that is exactly what the lads will be aiming for on Saturday.

As always we will be counting on the loyal support of our dedicated Ravens fans to bring the noise, so buy your tickets now and get ready for what’s sure to be a high octane occasion!
